Carol is away from the Shop this week
I must be away from the Shop from Saturday, June 27 through
Sunday, July 6. I expect to resume processing orders and
email on Monday, July 7. Because of the backlog, your order
will be delayed for several days. I'm sorry for the delay,
and I do appreciate your patience!
BEMS moving into sunnier digs! - Update
After three years of working in an overly spacious but dismally dark basement space, BEMS has moved across the street to a smaller but bright and sunny shop! Now when I wrap your music for shipping I'll be able to see the beautiful mountains in which our tiny town is nestled. The new physical address is 731 Main Street. The post office box, for everything postal, remains the same (PO Box 900).
And Carol is still working on backlogged orders...
Carol is continuing to work on backlogged orders and emails due to recent illness including pneumonia. If you haven't received your order yet, I'll get to it just as quickly as humanly possible. Thanks so much for your understanding!
New! Ask Miss Fret-Knot
We now have in stock the delightfully entertaining and
beautifully educational new booklet, "Ask Miss Fret-Knot,
a guide to consort manners". The authors are the fictional
Miss Prudence Fret-Knot and the decidedly non-fictional Lyle York.
Although aimed at viol consort members, most of the advice is
equally applicable to recorder and other consort members.
Highly recommended! Just search for "Fret-Knot".
The Recorder Book by Kenneth Wollitz is back in print
After being out of print for many years, The Recorder Book is again available. This is a great book for any recorder player, at any playing level. Enter
"Wollitz" in the search box in the Sheet Music section.
LPM is doing viol versions of the EML editions
London Pro Musica is printing versions of its Early Music Library in clefs suitable for viola da gamba. As these new editions become available, we will add them to our catalog. We have already added 161 with more to come. You can see all the new viol editions currently in the catalog by typing EMLV in the search box located in the sheet music section.
Damian Strings now available through BEMS
Damian Dlugolecki strings for viols, violin, viola, cello, and other early instruments are now available through BEMS! We keep many sizes in stock, and all gauges are available via (quick!) special order. Please check out the options in the Instruments, Kits, and Strings section.
BEMS enjoying our new home in Ouray, Colorado
If you haven't visited us in a while, please note that we are now
in beautiful Ouray, Colorado, in the southwest corner of the state
(across the Great Divide from the original location in Boulder!).
High in the rugged San Juan mountains, we gather music and instruments
from all over the world, and ship to customers all over the world.
Please see our Contact Us page
for our address and phone numbers.
Ruth Harvey, the founder of BEMS, is greatly enjoying her retirement -
traveling, and playing in many ensembles on the Front Range.
Tree Editions
We now carry the entire catalog of Lute music published by Tree Editions, including the 12 volume Goess Tablature Collection. Individual volumes of the Goess are $115, and many of the individual volumes are now in stock. The entire Goess set is $1150 if purchased as a set.
Gift Certificates
We have Boulder Early Music Shop Gift Certificates - a good solution if you cannot decide upon a specific item. You can make them out in any amount you choose.
The Boulder Early Music Shop travels to
many workshops and festivals with a large
selection of our inventory,
so that you may have that hands-on experience.
